Not all church pews are heated anymore

24,000 electricity costs the current annual bill was only for the church heating system. "That’s far more than we take in each year through the pew or the church funds", explains city priest P. Markus rice. In terms of services, each service during the heating period will cost 180 euros in energy. "We can’t afford such high costs", according to father markus.
That’s why, at a joint meeting of the parish council and church administration, it was agreed that, in future, only the first nine pews in the central block would be heated during normal sunday services. Nine pews offer space for at least 120 believers, the city pastor has determined. During weekday services, only the first three pews are heated. The parish assumes that even with this arrangement, all churchgoers will find a warm seat in the church.
For special services (christmas, funerals with many visitors), more heating is provided as needed.
The decision was also made in view of the upcoming renovation of the church, because the parish will be faced with high costs from 2018 in order to finance its own share of the renovation..
In view of the upcoming renovation, the parish council decided at its most recent meeting to take stock of the cent collection campaign that has been running for several months now. Until the 26th. November should therefore be as possible all glasses, which were filled with pennies, in the parish office to be handed in. For the parish council wants to see how the campaign has been received so far.
