Timo geibler is this year's "bank&" prize winner young honorary office" awarded by the VR-bank erlangen-hochstadt-herzogenaurach. With this concept, the credit institution honors the voluntary commitment of young people in the region.
Volunteering is important for the cohesion of a well-functioning society, says VR project manager simone ebersberger, explaining the bank's intention. The "bank&" concept young volunteers" create a platform to encourage young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to actively work for the common good. This year, the six-person jury decided in favor of 21-year-old timo geibler, who is involved in many ways in the basketball department of the gymnastics club herzogenaurach.
Up to its 14. Geibler himself was a successful basketball player before a serious illness prevented him from continuing his career. In the meantime, he has become an important pillar of the basketball department: as a licensed referee, he referees many games, accompanies the team to tournaments, and is already in his fourth year of successfully coaching youth teams. Questions about departmental tasks, drawing up seasonal match schedules, organizing youth trips, looking after young people at the easter camp or serving at the bar at the local church fair – geibler provides support at all times.
The award comes with a prize money of 1000 euros – 500 euros for the association and 500 euros for the laureate himself – which was presented during an evening ceremony. Geibler was nominated for the award by club officials and surprised with the award during the ceremony. VR-bank is once again looking for a worthy award winner in 2020.
